 Steve’.\nHere\, There be Monsters... grew from Thorp’s interest\nin writin
 g descriptive jazz\, using composition and improvisation to explore storie
 s and ideas\naround fear\, loneliness\, resilience\, nature and the unknow
 n. Originally inspired by an unusual\npiece of landscape discovered when w
 alking his dog\, Tom Thorp developed a body of work\nbased on a wide range
  of myths and legends from around the world\, taking the listener on a\njo
 urney through the characters\, stories and themes of human mythologies\, f
 rom Celtic\nlegends of dragons and kelpi’s\, to the creatures of 1001 Arab
 ian Knights\, Greek mythology\nand The Mongolian Steppe. Here\, There Be M
 onsters is an album brimming with\nprogrammatic flourishes\, musical image
 ry and virtuosic improvisations: the intriguing tales\nwithin Illumetris’ 
 music will come to life during their series of live shows.\nPerformed by T
 horp’s quintet ILUMETRIS – Neil Yates (trumpet\, flugelhorn)\, Andy\nStama
 takis-Brown (piano)\, Grant Russell (bass) and John Arnesen (drums)\, the 
 music draws\non myths and folklore including phoenixes\, giants\, pixies a
 nd the Minotaur. The musicians\nperform surrounded by Bridger’s original p
 aintings\, illustrations\, digital prints and animations\,\nbringing the s
 tories and characters behind Thorp’s compositions to life through music an
 d\nvisuals.
