Business owner FAQ

Practical answers about claiming, updating and managing a business listing on Shropshire Pages.

Common questions

What happens when I add my own business?

Your submission enters manual review. If approved, the profile goes live as owner-managed, your email is registered for access and the approval email opens your dashboard. You do not need to submit a separate claim.

What happens after my claim is approved?

Your listing is marked as claimed, your owner email is registered, and you receive a sign-in link so you can add photos, opening hours, a description, links and other useful details.

Is claiming my listing free?

Yes. Claiming and maintaining a standard business listing is free. Paid advertising and featured placements are optional extras, not a requirement for being listed.

Why was my business listed before I claimed it?

Some listings are created from publicly available business information so local residents can find useful services. These entries stay clearly labelled as unclaimed until an authorised owner or manager claims them.

Who can manage a claimed listing?

A claimed listing should be managed by the owner, a manager or someone authorised to represent the business. If access needs to move to another person, contact us from an address connected with the business.

How do I sign in after approval?

Use the sign-in link in your approval email while it is valid. If the link has expired, go to the manage page and request a fresh sign-in link for the approved owner email address.

What should I update first?

Start with a clear photo, an accurate description, opening hours, your website and the services or areas you cover. These details help customers decide whether your business is the right fit.

Can I edit phone numbers, websites or opening hours?

Yes. Claimed owners can keep practical listing details up to date. Changes should describe the real business and must not mislead customers or impersonate another organisation.

Can I remove my business instead of claiming it?

Yes. If you do not want to manage a profile, you can request an update or removal from the listing page. Requests are reviewed manually before changes are made.

What emails will I receive?

We send service emails needed to review, approve and access your listing. Compare The Networks will only email about business connectivity if you separately request that on the add or claim form.

Who operates Shropshire Pages?

Shropshire Pages is operated by Xtra Phones UK Ltd, the Shropshire company behind Compare The Networks. Directory access remains free whether or not you use its separate business connectivity service.

Does adding a listing create a Compare The Networks enquiry?

No. You can choose an optional email request or follow a clearly labelled link to Compare The Networks. Leaving that option unticked has no effect on your free listing or claim.

Does a claimed listing mean Shropshire Pages endorses my business?

No. A claimed listing means an authorised business representative can manage the profile. It does not create a partnership, endorsement or customer guarantee.

Need something changed?

Use your approved owner access for routine edits. For access problems, ownership changes or removal requests, contact the team with enough information to identify the listing.
