Shropshire Pages is operated by Xtra Phones UK Ltd, the company behind Compare The Networks. Xtra Phones UK Ltd is the data controller for information collected through this website.
Information we hold
- Business listing information created from publicly available sources.
- Details you submit through our forms (add a business, claim, update/remove, enquiry, contact, advertising and Find a Trader job requests).
- Anonymous usage data, including a salted hash of your IP address used only to count contact actions and completed form submissions. We do not store raw IP addresses.
- Aggregate analytics data from privacy-friendly analytics tools, such as page views, searches and conversion events.
Website review requests
When you request a private website review, we store your business and contact name, email address, phone number, postcode, website, goals, timing and payment preference. We confirm your email before starting the review and use your chosen contact method to discuss the findings and any help you request. These details and the report are private. Requesting a review does not subscribe you to newsletters or telecoms marketing.

- To understand which pages and actions help users find and contact local businesses.
Optional Compare The Networks contact
The add-business and claim forms include a separate, unticked option to request an email from Compare The Networks about business broadband, mobiles or phone systems. If you select it, we record what you agreed to and when, and use the supplied name, business and email address to make that requested contact. The choice does not affect listing approval, claiming or free owner access. We do not treat an unticked box as consent.
Clearly labelled links to Compare The Networks open its separate website. Simply submitting a Shropshire Pages form does not submit a quote request to a network or telecoms provider.
Lawful basis
We process personal data on the basis of legitimate interests in running a local directory, and consent where you submit a form or contact us.
Unclaimed listings
Some listings are created from publicly available business information and are marked as unclaimed. If a listing relates to you or your business, you can claim, update or request its removal at any time.
Find a Trader requests
When you submit a job request, we store the job description, location, timing, budget and contact details so an administrator can review it. These details are not published on the directory. We may use them to identify relevant local businesses and to contact you about the request. We do not automatically send your personal details to every listed business.
After review, we may send a summary of the job (without your name, email, phone number or full postcode) to a small number of claimed local businesses. Your contact details are shared only with businesses that accept the job, and with no more than three of them, so they can get in touch about it.
Business owners who claim a listing receive service emails about their listing, such as job requests they can accept and a monthly summary of listing views and clicks. Every monthly summary includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and the setting can be changed in the owner dashboard. Card payments for paid plans and job requests are processed by Stripe; we do not see or store card numbers.
Reviews
When you review a business we store your rating, review, display name and email address, plus a salted hash of your IP address to spot spam. We email you once to confirm the address; the review is only checked and published after you confirm. Your name and review are shown publicly; your email address is never published or shared with the business. You can ask us to remove your review at any time.
Retention
We normally retain enquiries and Find a Trader requests for up to 12 months, unless they are needed for longer to handle an active request, resolve a dispute, prevent abuse or meet a legal obligation. Administrative audit records may be kept for a reasonable longer period.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or request deletion of your personal data, and to object to processing. To exercise these rights, contact us.
