About Rectory Wood

Rectory Wood and Field is a Local Nature Reserve located in Church Stretton, close to the town centre. It features both woodland and meadow areas with steep banks that rise towards the Long Mynd. Formally declared a Local Nature Reserve in March 2022, the site is owned by the Town Council and managed by volunteers. It was originally part of the Rectory grounds and was designed as a landscape garden around 1770, possibly inspired by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown. Visitors can explore winding paths, a stream, and a yew-ringed pool, enjoying views into the valley and beyond.
