About Shrewsbury Abbey

Shrewsbury Abbey is the parish church of Holy Cross Parish, located on the east side of Shrewsbury. It has been a place of worship since Anglo-Saxon times, founded as a Benedictine Monastery in 1083. After the dissolution of the monasteries, the surviving part of the building continued as a parish church. The Abbey welcomes everyone for worship, private prayer, or to visit, offering tours and a St Winefride Pilgrim Trail. It is open to all, including those of any faith or none, and is disabled and dog friendly.
