Zoos, adventure parks, steam trains and free parkland — the best family days out in Shropshire, rated by local families.
Shropshire is brilliant for families, with a huge variety of days out and a lot of it free. Here are the places local families rate most.
Zoos and animals
Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World and the Exotic Zoo near Telford are firm favourites, while Park Hall: The Countryside Experience near Oswestry is a superb farm day out.
Outdoor adventure
BeWILDerwood (just over the border near Whitchurch) is a magical treehouse-and-zipline adventure park, and the cliffs, caves and grottoes of Hawkstone Park Follies are a thrilling scramble for older children.
Trains and history
All aboard a steam train on the Severn Valley Railway from Bridgnorth or the Telford Steam Railway. The free RAF Museum Midlands and living-history Blists Hill Victorian Town keep all ages entertained.
Free parks
Telford Town Park has playgrounds, a lake, a water-play area and the Wonderland attraction. Most of the county's parks and nature reserves are free.
