Rainy Day Things to Do in Shropshire

By The Shropshire Pages team·17 June 2026

Indoor museums, attractions and ideas to keep everyone happy when the Shropshire weather turns.

Shropshire weather not playing ball? There's plenty to do under cover.

World-class museums

The free Royal Air Force Museum Midlands at Cosford has vast indoor hangars of aircraft. In the Ironbridge Gorge, Blists Hill Victorian Town (much of it indoors), the Coalport China and Jackfield Tile museums make a brilliant wet-weather day.

A bit different

Tour the cells at the atmospheric Shrewsbury Prison, or explore the town's story at the free Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery.

With the kids

Indoor soft play, the heated areas at Hoo Zoo, and the cinemas and leisure centres in Shrewsbury and Telford all keep little ones happy.
